about us

PinkWave Monaco was founded in March 2019. At the time there were hardly any female only crews at the annual Primo Cup. Out of fifty or sixty participating teams, two were female-only. So, the conclusion was that if their sailing boat could make it from "Start to Finish", they would automatically end up on the podium in the Ladies’ ranking. This was the birth of the PinkWave sailing team.

Today the PinkWave team consists of about 50 women ages 24 to 76 ranging in levels from absolute beginner to high-profile regatta expert. And typical of Monaco, members come from all different backgrounds and nationalities.

PinkWave members take part in many disciplines of sailing at the club. It's members join the regular trainings on the YCM adult sailing  with Omega's and Women Only trainings with  J/70's as well as trainings and regattas on the original William Fife Tuiga D3, 23.2 m, the flagship of the Monaco Yacht Club and the recently acquired Argynne 3 A3, a 12,8 m Cutter built in 1956.

Regatta participation by PinkWave, female-only crew have been up to now:

  • Helga Cup, Hamburg, Germany - the biggest Women regatta in the world organised by the Norddeutscher Regatta Verein
  • Sportboat Winter Series - Yacht Club of Monaco
  • Primo Cup -  Yacht Club of Monaco
  • "Les Dames de Saint Tropez" - Societé Nautique de Saint-Tropez
  • Lady Liberty Regatta -  Manhattan Yacht Club

PinkWave members will again join in the Mediterranean Classical Regatta circuit with mixed crews, such as Les Voiles d’Antibes, Les Voiles de Saint Tropez, and other famous regattas like the Palermo-Monte Carlo and the Trofeo Grimaldi. Needless to say that the PinkWave team also never misses out on throwing a good Party at the Yacht Club.

PinkWave believes supporting women in sport is essential. “We connect and reach out to other female sailors worldwide – so easy via social media – and we actively maintain dialogues with like-minded women worldwide, striving to create a true movement of support and understanding and an environment which feels safe and non-judgmental”
